Book Introduction and Panel Discussion:

A panel and a book introduction was conducted on 23 May 2007. Prof. Dr. Turgut Tarhanlı (Moderator, İstanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Law and Human Rights Law Research Center), Prof. Dr. Dilruba Çatalbaş Ürper (Galatasaray University, Faculty of Communications), Assistant Professor Kenan Çayır (İstanbul Bilgi University, Department of Sociology), Associate Professor Füsun Türkmen (Galatasaray University, Department of International Relations), Prof. Dr. Zehra F. Kabasakal Arat (State University of New York, Purchase College, Political Science and Women’s Studies) gave speeches on human rights issues in Turkey.

In “Human Rights in Turkey”, edited by Zehra F. Kabasakal Arat, twenty-one Turkish and international scholars from various disciplines examine human rights policies and conditions in Turkey. 

Main topics of the panel that was held on 23 May included freedom of the press, human rights training, and Turkey’s policies on adopting international human rights regimes, as well as Turkey’s human rights policies in general.
