International Panel: “The Impact of Anti-Terror Laws on the Freedom of Expression”, 13 March 2004

An international panel on “The Impact of Anti-Terror Laws on the Freedom of Expression” was conducted on 13 March 2004. The Panel was organised by International Pen and Istanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law Research Center. Eugene Schoulgin (The Chairperson,Pen Writers in Prison Committee) made the opening speech and Üstün Akmen (The President, Turkish P.E.N. Centre), Charles Torner Pifarre (The President, Catalan P.E.N Centre), Prof. Dr. Turgut Tarhanlı (Director, Istanbul Bilgi University, Human Rights Law Research Centre), Jiri Grusave (The President, International P.E.N.), Erol Önderoğlu (The Reporters Without Borders, Turkey Reporter), Larry Siems (The Chairperson, American P.E.N. Centre Writers in Prison Committee), Fikret İlkiz (Consultant, Turkish P.E.N. Centre Writers in Prison Committee) participated in the meeting in which the Anti-Terror report of International Pen, the recent cases in the USA and Turkey were discussed.
