Strengthening Women’s Access to Justice Project (July 2018-July 2019)

Strengthening Women’s Access to Justice Project (July 2018-July 2019)

The project aims to strengthen access to justice mechanisms for women who are subject to violence and discrimination. The project intends to reach this aim by increasing the level of knowledge, skills and awareness of lawyers on international conventions, national legislation and practice in the field of violence against women and increasing the quality of legal aid that women receive from lawyers.

The project will be implemented between July 2018 and July 2019 in partnership with Mor Çatı Women’s Shelter Foundation. Within the framework of the project four seminars will be organized on the “Legislation on Combating Discrimination and Violence against Women”. The seminars will target 100 lawyers registered at the bar associations of İstanbul, Bursa, Eskişehir and Trabzon.

The seminars will be provided by experts of gender issues, gender equality and violence against women. With these seminars, the project aims to increase the quality of the legal aid provided to women by lawyers registered at legal aid offices of bar associations. The project is supported financially by Sabancı Foundation
