The second training for Judges of the Family Courts and Prosecutors, of the project "Strengthening Respect for Human Rights of Women in Turkey", conducted by Istanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law Research Center and supported by Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, was held between 5-8 February in Istanbul.
The seminar lasted for four days and 10 prosecutors and 14 judges attended.
The local experts were selected by Istanbul Bilgi University and the international expert was selected by RWI. The local experts were Ali Güzel (reserve member of the Constitutional Court), Prof. Turgut Tarhanlı (Dean, Faculty of Law, Istanbul Bilgi University), Prof. Feride Acar (Chairwoman, Middle East Technical University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Ex-Chairwoman of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women), Assoc. Prof. Bertil Emrah Oder (Koc University, Faculty of Law), Assoc. Prof. Ufuk Sezgin (Kocaeli University, Center for Psychological Trauma and Disaster Relief Studies), Assoc. Prof. Şükran Şıpka (Istanbul Commerce University, Faculty of Law) and Ömer Uğur Gençcan (Member of the Court of Cassation, 2nd Chamber). The international expert was Parvana Bayramova.
