ASOS-KADAV Gender Programme (December 2017-June 2018)

ASOS-KADAV Gender Programme (December 2017-June 2018)

ASOS in Turkey has collaborated with Women’s Solidarity Foundation (KADAV) in order to implement its Gender Programme to improve working conditions of women who work for manufacturers of ASOS in Turkey. The programme aims to improve women workers’ access to remedy through internal and external mechanisms as well as increase the level of their contribution to improving working conditions. In order to reach that goal, a pilot training programme was implemented in two factories based in two different cities in Turkey. The training programme provided by KADAV comprised seminars on gender awareness, discrimination and violence against women, and economic rights for women workers in the factories. The training seminars took place between January-March 2018 in two factories targeting 79 women employees. While formulating the gender programme ASOS has considered the necessity of evaluating and measuring the impact of the training programme in order to investigate whether the programme has reached its goals and to find out if there is a need for improvement and change. For this purpose, a baseline and needs assessment study, and an evaluation and impact assessment component was incorporated into the programme. Lecturer Burcu Yeşiladalı from Istanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law Research Center has conducted the evaluation and impact assessment of the training programme. At the end of the study, she has submitted a report presenting the findings of the evaluation and impact assessment.
