Assoc. Prof. Galma Akdeniz
Galma Akdeniz, obtained her BA in Psychology from Boğaziçi University in 1997, and an MA in the same field in 1999. She was awarded PhD in Criminal Justice from the Rutgers University in Newark in 2009. She has been a member of academic staff at İstanbul Bilgi University since 2004, teaching as well as continuing research on courts, criminal justice system, and public trust in those. She plays an active role in "European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics" project, has collaborated with European Forum for Restorative Justice on a number of projects, and has organised the 2005 International Crime Victim Survey in Turkey. In the past Akdeniz has worked with OSCE ODIHR, UNDP and IOM.
Research interests: crime and criminal justice policy, crime victimisation, restorative justice.
