Practice of forensic medicine and forensic psychology in Turkey has recently been a subject of heated debate. To discuss the shortfalls that we are faced with in these areas, a workshop was organized on 29-30 September 2009 by Human rights Law Research Center in cooperation with MA Program in Psychology. An attorney at law and a social worker, Sherry Marla Narodick, participated in the workshop as an expert. Ms. Narodick discussed how and by whom forensic psychological evaluation of children victims of sexual abuse are conducted in the state of New York, where she practices. She further presented methods used in the process of forensic psychological evaluation and discussed the roles of lawyers, social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists in the process. On the second day of the workshop, methods and techniques of forensic interview with children victims of sexual violence were presented, and participants have participated in interview simulations.
