International Crime Victim Survey (ICVS) 2005, Turkey-Istanbul data was presented on 17 May 2006 at Istanbul Bilgi University's Cinema Hall to a wide group of attendees of academicians, representatives of public institutions, NGOs and the press.

International Crime Victim Survey (ICVS) is an international research project that attempts to measure the extent and the nature of criminal victimization, by going beyond official records, and by obtaining information about victimization directly from the victims of crime and coordinated by UN Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and is currently the biggest ongoing comparative research on crime and victimization. In 2005, the 5th wave of the study was conducted across the number of countries, with Turkey participating for the first time with a survey limited to Istanbul households. Goal of the project was to study the extent and nature of criminal victimization, including the reporting to police, fear of crime and punitiveness among general population. Research was conducted in summer 2005, supported by TÜBİTAK.
