Monitoring Reports on Cases of Discrimination were Presented, 28 February 2011

On 28 February 2011, monitoring reports on cases of discrimination on grounds of race/ethnic origin, religion/belief, disability and sexual orientation/sex identity were presented. The reports are prepared by independent researchers under the coordination of İstanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law Research Center within the framework of project “Combating Discrimination in Turkey through Documenting and Reporting”.

The reports contain cases of discrimination, relevant national and international non-discrimination legislation or discriminatory national legislation, government policies and measures to combat discrimination. All data is provided for the fields of employment, education, health services, housing, and access to goods and services. The reports also contain series of recommendations to relevant bodies. The reporting period is 6 months, starting on 1 January 2010 ending on 30 June 2010.

The reports are prepared by the following  researchers: 

  • Report on discrimination based on race or ethnic origin: Seda Alp and Nejat Taştan 
  • Report on discrimination based on religion or belief: Ergün Kayabaş and Özgür Mehmet Kütküt 
  • Report on discrimination based on disability: Arzu Şenyurt Akdağ, Gizem Tanay, Hakan Özgül, Lütfiye Kelleci Birer and Özlem Kara 
  • Report on discrimination based on sexual orientation or sex identity: Fırat Söyle, Yasemin Öz, Pelin Kalkan, Umut Güner and Elif Ceylan Özsoy.
