Training for NGOs on Human Rights of Women-I, 21-23 September 2007

The first training of the project "Strengthening Respect for Human Rights of Women in Turkey", conducted  by Istanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law Research Center and supported by Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, was held between 21-23 September 2007 in Istanbul.

The training lasted three days and 21 NGO representatives participated from Istanbul as well as from other cities: Mor Çatı Kadın Sığınağı Vakfı, Türkiye Kadın Girişimciler Derneği (KAGİDER), Kadın Adayları Destekleme ve Eğitme Derneği (KADER), Kadın Yurttaş Ağı (KAYA), Gökkuşağı Kadın Platformu, Amargi Kadın Akademisi, Van Kadın Derneği (VAKAD), İris Eşitlik Gözlem Grubu, Tunceli Ana Fatma Kadın Derneği, Filmmor Kadın Kooperatifi, Kadınlarla Dayanışma Vakfı (KADAV), Mersin Bağımsız Kadın Derneği, Şahmaran Kadın Da(ya)nışma ve Araştırma Derneği, Başkent Kadın Platformu Derneği, Türkiye Aile Planlaması Derneği, Eğitim ve Bilim Emekçileri Sendikası (EĞİTİM SEN), Bağımsız İletişim Ağı (Bianet), Antalya Kadın Danışma ve Dayanışma Merkezi, Sağlık ve Sosyal Hizmet Emekçileri Sendikası (SES), Kadın Mühendisler E-Platformu and İmece Kadın Dayanışma Kooperatifi.

The local experts were selected by Bilgi University. The local experts were Prof. Feride Acar (Chairwoman, Middle East Technical University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Ex-Chairwoman of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women),  Assoc. Prof. Bertil Emrah Oder (Koç University, Faculty of Law), Assoc. Prof. Kadriye Bakırcı (Istanbul Technical University), Assistant Professor İpek İlkkaracan (Istanbul Technical University), Assistant Professor Dolunay Ozbek (Istanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Law), Dr. Asuman A. İnceoğlu (Istanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Law) and Hülya Gülbahar (Chairperson of the Association for Supporting and Training Women Candidates).
