Strengthening Respect for Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Turkey (November 2005-December 2010)



The project is implemented in the framework of the Strengthening Respect for Human Rights in Turkey Programme. The overall objective of this programme has been to contribute to the ongoing process of strengthening human rights protection and promotion, rule of law and democracy in Turkey. The programme aimed at giving key professional groups and civil society organisations in Turkey a higher level of theoretical and applied understanding of international human rights standards. The programme focused especially on the human rights of women and people with disabilities. To increase the multiplier effect and the sustainability of the trainings, training and reading materials in Turkish have been developed within the framework of the programme. The programme was supported by Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) and Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA). Within the framework of the Project for Strengthening Respect for Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Turkey a number of training seminars were organised on human rights of the people with disabilities.
